I wanted to share with you today some of the wonderful things I have planned for the Garden Party and why I wanted to organise such an event.

Being held in the gardens of Langtry House, Milford on Sea on Sunday June 16th 10m – 4pm

I grew up in a little village where fetes and garden parties were an annual thing. As a child I loved attending them, so hosting one is something I have wanted to do for a long time.

My reason for choosing Macmillan Nurses is because of the kindness and support they have shown members of my family and friends over the years. Since launching this event I have found they have helped so many people who are attending the Party.

My aim for the day is to provide a relaxed environment where families can spend the day, drinking tea & pimm’s, eating cake, sitting on the lawn listening to music, enjoying the variety of local stalls and children playing games.

I will also be styling and decorating the garden into a beautiful summer fete extravaganza.

When thinking about some of the most stylish women in the world, for me french women are the leaders of the pack. I have been reading a book about how french women raise their children and an interesting statement was “you will never know a french woman is a mother unless she is carrying her child”

But it is not just how they dress, it is the attention to detail. Opulent homes with incredible hand painted finishes and touches. French patisseries leave you not wanting to eat the works of art they create.

Visually you are stimulated from every aspect of day to day life, incorporating this into your event can create the kind of details that can get overlooked.

Soft colourings teamed with gold accents, candles as far as the eye can see, tables are perfectly busy, not a white clothed contemporary table in sight.

I can’t say that I am the biggest fan of Valentines Day. An expensive marketing ploy to get you to spend lots of money, then for men to look bad when they do not get it right.

But that said, I also think it is a chance not to spend money and be a little bit crafty in the way you express your love to those you care about. I always say to my husband, just a card with meaningful words (bet that fills him with dread)

You can send a little gift to your closest friends.

These cute little cupcakes in a jar, sponge, with frosting or cream, fresh fruits or chocolate.

Really easy Valentines day fortune cookies. These can be tailored to contain a message relevant to anyone special in your life.

These cute heart wreaths can be made in so many way, using left over material and coat hanger wire, to polystyrene blanks with dried flowers, paper or even dollies. I think my Mum will be getting one of these this year.

A little bit of love decoration. Heart Streamers are so easy to make and look so sweet. I bought Streamers from a local party store less than 20p per roll.

And to finish off a favourite of mine. Paper Flower Pomander Balls, long lasting and ever so pretty.

I have made these as party decorations in the past, but they would make a great gift also. You will need: Rolls of streamers, Glue gun and Tape

Roll the streamers to form rose like flowers.

Hot glue gun the flowers onto a styrofoam ball.

And ……..

At last a wedding fair with a difference.

I am very excited to be sharing with you one of the few wedding fairs I will be attending this season. The Wedding Festival, which last year ran wonderfully as The Dorset Vintage Fair, has had a revamp.

The organisers are the very talented ladies from Something Borrowed Magazine.

This year it is being held at Holton Lea on Sunday 7th April 11am – 4pm.

It has something for everyone – Literally! So bring men, children and friends to enjoy this gorgeous venue.

There will be various marquees, catering for everyone, including;

My Special Day

Grey takes on many varying shades, from the darkest of downpipe grey to the lightest of crystal grey, it is a colour with a huge colour spectrum that so many are suited with.

Pinks and corals, yellows and mustards, greens and limes, the ideas are endless. Far less harsh that black, creating a less spotty two colour way palette.

When clients decide to use Sweet Dream for their events, whether it is full design planning, on the day dressing or a dessert tables, they will get to know me on quite a personal level. No matter how big or small the job I have been given, I take it very seriously that I have been trusted with their special occasion.

So  my reason for updating my blog with the odd personal post is simply to show that Sweet Dream is far more than just a company, you will probably meet my son, maybe my husband, certainly my Dad if heavy lifting is involved and most definatly my Mum who has taught me pretty much everything I know!!

I have been adjusting to the Work/Mummy juggling act for 5 months now and at times it has been wonderful and at times (most of the time) utterly exhausting, but I still would not change it for the world.

I have become even more organised, with a very adaptable and happy little boy who spends a lot of time watching me making things, loves the sound of the food mixer (helps him sleep!) and gives me a reality check daily to know that all this is worth it so I can spend as much time with him as possible.

I am working from my parents house now with a workshop at the bottom of the garden and I am about to enter my busiest year to date with May and June seeing me tackle 11 events.

I just wanted to share some photos with you of my little family that make me even more determined to succeed.

Fruit is a forgotten thing when it comes to decorating your event, but ti is such a colourful, cheap and fun way to inject a different angle.

I have been making a lot of different items ready for The Dorset Vintage Wedding Fair and have found fruits are playing a bit of a part in my display.

From place settings to floral decor, they really can be so versatile.
